A Framework Concept for Chicago Mayoral Candidates’ Policy Positions

Choose Your Mayor

As a voter, I’ve always yearned for more clarity on how candidates plan to deliver on their promises.

And now, as a candidate, I find myself in a position to demonstrate this.

While running for mayor, I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars on policy experts crafting 100+ pages of documents. These papers can get so wordy and dense that the value to voters can get lost in nuance and complexity.

I realized there are just a few things that need to be addressed so we’re all on the same page:

This is likely incomplete, but hopefully a step in the right direction. Work in progress!

How will this policy affect me? How, specifically, will you get this done? What will you measure to ensure progress is being made? Is this position supported by any evidence or research?

Answers to these questions are typically absent from candidate platforms.

So I decided to change that.

I’ve drafted a policy framework to help you make better sense of how I’ll deliver on my promises (here’s an explanation of its components).

While this is an incomplete concept, I believe it’s still worth applying in the final days of this race. It’s also worth noting that not every section of the framework has been applied to each policy, yet.

You can check out my government accountability and jobs platform position sheets on my website. Just click underneath each position paragraph where it says “How we’ll get this done.”

Easy peasy

I’ve had the privilege of working with other mayoral candidates to apply the framework to some of their positions. So far, I’ve completed sheets with both Paul Vallas and Lori Lightfoot. They’ve brought immense substance to the race; I’m grateful they dedicated resources to help me apply this framework to their platforms.

I’m in touch with a majority of the remaining candidates about doing the same (time-permitting). My goal is to help our electorate get as informed as possible and to assist the under-resourced campaigns with a boost for the final sprint.

To make the most informed choice for mayor, you deserve to know as much as you can about our plans and promises. I hope this helps clarify a bit more about how our policies can be made real in Chicago.
